Service Description

This workshop is a day-long, hands-on immersion into the world of soil pigments. Aside from imparting practical knowledge, the experience aims to create a sense of grounding for newcomers or artists who seek to connect their practice to nature. The morning session will focus on deriving archival quality pigments from rocks and soil. You will gain in depth knowledge about foraging and extracting pigment as well as natural binders. We will go through the process of creating a small batch of watercolour / gouache paint from start to finish. Your lunch will be a wholesome vegetarian meal from our home kitchen, which is included in the workshop fee. The afternoon session will be dedicated to the exploration of the material through a guided painting session. What will be provided : -All workshop equipment and materials. - In depth theory as well as practical session on foraging, extracting and mulling soil and rock pigments. - A detailed recipe + demo of an all-natural binder that you can take home with you. (Small jar) - Lunch break + community mingling - Guided painting session using the pigments we create! - Leave with a set of natural earth pigments of your own.
